10 monthsary!

Can you believe it? We've been married for 10 months now! It's been waaay fun and we have loved every minute of it, however, being the married students that we are, it has also been very stressful at times. Mostly because it seems like ALL we ever do is work, probably because that IS all we do. So last week Chris got his work schedule early and it just so happened that his day off was going to be on Thursday. I decided to request the day off too so that we could go somewhere and just relax and have some time for ourselves without worrying about work or anything. I told Chris that I would plan the whole day for us and he just had to show up and have some fun! I'd been wanting to go to the beach for a while so I thought that we could go to the Santa Cruz Mystery Spot and then to Capitola Beach (I wanted something other than the boardwalk) and I'd read that Capitola Beach was one of the warmest and prettiest beach in Northern California. So early that morning we packed our bags and we were off! We started out with breakfast at Marie Callender's (which was way delsih and not so expensive) then we headed to Walmart to pick up some snacks and then started our 2 hour drive.

Here we are waiting for our tour at the Mystery Spot.

Let me interject here a little about what exactly the Mystery Spot is. It's a place in the middle of the Santa Cruz mountains where gravity has gone all haywire. Even though you think you're standing up straight, you're acutally leaning. Balls roll uphill instead of downhill and once you enter this area you actually lose a couple inches of height! I know, I know, you're thinking how is this even possible? Well, I would tell you, but I don't know because as our tourguide said, nobody would pay 5 bucks to come to a "solved spot" and so it remains called the "Mystery Spot" because no one knows what it going on. Although he did say that the most popular and believed theory is that YEARS and YEARS ago aliens came down in spaceships and that they're still buried underneath this mystery spot which gives it it's weird occurences.

This is Chris, if you look closely, you can see him leaning.

You can definitely see the lean here. Esp. in the girl in the pink, she's holding onto a bar directly above her and as soon as she's of the floor, look at how her body leans!

Here's the video of the ball rolling upward. He really just placed the ball on the wood and instead of rolling down it rolled back up.. no one pushed it.

Here's a picture of people that range in height from 5'2" to 6'.

These are the exact same people on opposite ends. Now they all look the same height!

If you're ever in Santa Cruz, you should def look into going to the Mystery Spot because it's not very expensive and pretty fun. The whole tour is about 40 minutes long and costs 5 bucks per person plus 5 dollar per car (parking). I don't suggest you go all the way to Santa Cruz JUST for this, as it's not THAT worth it but if you're in the mood for some differnt kind of fun check it out.

After we left the Mystery Spot we went to Capitola Beach and definitely recommend it for a beach trip. Parking was easy to find and also relatively cheap. It's also really pretty and the downtown is just a block away from the beach. All in all it was a most fabulous way to celebreate our 10 months and veyr relaxing and exaclty what the doctor has prescribed.
