Germs, germs, germs!

It seems to be that since the swine flu epidemic and scare, more and more people are concerned with their health and quite reasonably, with the health of those around them. Everyone, that is, except for little kids! So why in the heck would I want to spend my life/career around that? Cause they're soo stinkin' cute! Anyways, this semester I'm taking a field experience class where I get to tutor kids in reading. I only have one little boy right now but my goodness does he need to learn some proper coughing etiquette. Today was my second day with him and he seems to be getting over a cold or something (that or he has a perpetual cough) but he won't cover his mouth. Ok, correction, he covered his mouth oh maybe 1 one out the 3 times he coughs. He won't even look the other way. He kinda just coughs and does nothing about it. I get the feeling I might get sick a couple of times before the semester is over. That's not my only worries for this kid though. He's Russian and has just barely learned english. As in, last semester he couldn't even say a few words in English and now he seems to be doing a lot better and can even sound out a lot of words, but I definitely think I'm going to have my work cut out for me. It's really hard to get to know him or talk to him because I don't think he really knows what I'm saying half the time. Poor kid, I can only imagine what that must be like. Well, in my talk with him today he said he liked funny books so I guess that's what I'll try to find for him. Ironically, he really liked the Dr. Seuss book that I brought in today. I say ironically, because Dr. Seuss has so many made up words in his book that I wonder if when I read it, it doesn't all sound like gibberish to him. We'll see...
