Perhaps there's hope for this world..

I don't watch the news and so half the time I'm very uninformed about things that are going on locally, let alone worldwide. However, I tend to prefer it that way because usually what you hear on the news is stuff you don't really want to hear. You know, so and so cheated on their husband/wife. So and so killed the other person. This country wants to wage war on the other and I tend to be a worry wart as it is, so I don't really need more things to worry about on top of my own worries, particularly because they're probably things that I can do nothing about.

Anyways, so with all these things I just mentioned, one can't help but wonder what kind of world our kids will end up growing in. I mean really... can it get any worse? Unfortunately, I think it can, and church leaders have repeatedly warned us about such a thing. Luckily though, not everyone in this world is as corrupt as you would think and there are still people out there who care about others and want to help them out of the kindness of their hearts. Chris and I met such a person today.

We went to costco to pick up a couple of things. We got to the registers and debated which one seemed to be going faster. Chris got into one and I got into another and since it looked like mine might be done faster I just told Chris to come over. Well it turns out that an older man got in line right behind us and when it came time for our things to be rung up he turned to Chris and said, "you know what? let me help you out, I'll pay for your things." Chris looked at him and said "are you sure?" And the man said "yes, you know I've got a grandson whose about your age and he's got a young wife about  your age (pointing to me) and I like to do nice things every once in a while." Then he proceeded to give the cashier his costco card and paid for our purchases all $30 worth of stuff.  Which I know isn't a whole lot, but I have to say we really appreciated his generosity. I mean, really, in this day and age, how many people out there would actually buy groceries for complete strangers. As my title says, perhaps there is hope for this world.
